Seven of us recently sailed for two weeks, starting in Punta Gorda, Florida to Key West, and then on to Cuba and back, on a well-equipped and comfy catamaran. It made for a great adventure and a life time of memories. Everything was well-planned, with the safety of the crew always first and foremost. On top of that we were well-provisioned and able to check out some very cool places.
One of the best aspects, however, was the opportunity to learn by doing, whether that meant hoisting and trimming the sails, pitching in with typical boat duties, charting our course, or manning the helm. I have been sailing with 3rd Coast going on four years. In that time I have sailed off the coast of Chicago, been to Belize, various ports in Florida and across the Gulf of Mexico.
This particular sailing charter has a lot to offer. It's definitely not a Royal Caribbean yacht type of experience, but much better, especially if you are looking for adventure and excitement, while at the same time honing your sailing skills. The people are friendly. The camaraderie is awesome. I definitely would recommend 3rd Coast Charters if you'd like to meet new, like-minded people. Sailing with 3rd Coast, whether for one outing, an extended weekend, or a week-long adventure, will have you coming back for more. The good news is their ship “Latitude Adjustment” will be in Chicago this summer.
